Back in 1921 Willie Laing bought over an existing joinery business in the historic village of Grantown-on-Spey in the heart of Speyside and started the family firm of A. W. Laing. Initially the joinery components made in the High Street workshop were transported on large hand carts to the various sites, confining the distance of travel to local areas. By the late 1970's technology had advanced and A. W. Laing were manufacturing timber frame house kits to high Scandinavian standards for a Norwegian company, delivering them to the Western Isles and the Shetlands.
During the 1980's the firm invested in computerised equipment, including the upcut saw to your right which enabled the high standards already achieved to be maintained and also increased the range of timber frame kit houses available. Today A. W. Laing are proud to be associated with over 400 house designs throughout Scotland along with general construction projects for such clients as:
All built to the high standards of workmanship you have come to expect from us.
